District's capital project checklist now complete

Oct. 12, 2017 -- For those who might not have noticed, the school district recently wrapped up the last of the work on the $5.2 million “Safety, Security and Infrastructure Project” that Moravia voters approved back in 2014.

After breaking ground on the project in 2016, contractors set out to address several building infrastructure needs, including parking lot, roofing and sidewalk renovations; asbestos abatement; upgrades to corridor lighting, the fitness center and bathrooms; new carpeting and heating ventilation updates in the libraries, district office and counseling and high school offices; restoration of the high school tower; fine-tuning of the district’s wireless network; and, most recently, installation of the new digital sign in front of the high school.

“We truly appreciate the community’s willingness to support this critical work, as well as everyone’s patience while the hammers swung and the dust flew,” Superintendent of Schools John Birmingham said. “We hope everyone has had a chance to check out some of our upgrades, which were essential to providing an optimum learning environment for our students.”
