Nov. 5, 2018 -- Congratulations to Abigail Axton, Katherine Baylor and Addison Moore, all recipients of the Girl Scout Silver Award – the highest honor a Girl Scout Cadette can earn.

The trio of Moravia High School freshmen, all members of Moravia Troop 41040, earned the award by spending a minimum of 50 hours on a sustainable project that will impact their community for years to come, according to Cindy Neverette, operations coordinator for Girls Scouts of NYPENN Pathways Inc. The track will benefit Girl Scout troops for many years to come.

In their case, the three students raised more than $2,000 to purchase a pine car derby track for Girl Scout Caywasco Service Unit 425 to use. Previously, the scouts had to borrow a track from nearby Boy Scout packs. The three students then built the box for the track and learned to set up it up and take it down so they could help other troops use it.

Way to go, girls!
