HS Pick Up/Drop Off
Governor Andrew Cuomo issued an executive order on Wednesday, June 17, to recognizing Juneteenth as an official holiday for New York State employees. This order, which is designed to commemorate the emancipation of African Americans in the United States, is set to begin June 19, 2021.
Prior to the governor’s executive order, Moravia Central School District had scheduled a pickup day for Friday, June 19, to allow high school students to gather their belongs and drop off any materials they may need to return. While the district fully supports and endorses the governor’s executive order to honor Juneteenth, the district will need to continue with its scheduled pickup day to help avoid confusion for our students and their families.
Moravia Central School District is committed to recognizing Juneteenth as an official state holiday, as well as to educating our students and staff on the importance of equality for all.
