Moravia Middle School Commemorates September 11th with Annual Remembrance Ceremony
Moravia Middle School held its annual September 11th Remembrance Ceremony yesterday, honoring the memory of those lost on September 11, 2001, and paying tribute to local heroes. The ceremony, which took place on the school’s front lawn, was a moving tribute featuring local veterans, members of the Moravia Fire Department, and distinguished guest speakers.
The event included a flag-raising ceremony, as the American flag was hoisted in front of the school, while students also performed the National Anthem and played “Taps” on the trumpet.
A series of poignant speeches were also delivered. Among the speakers was Fred Ott, a dedicated teacher at Moravia Middle School and a veteran, who spoke about the significance of remembering September 11th and the importance of community and patriotism.
“Some of humanity’s worst came out on September 11th,” he said. “The day also showed some of the best in humanity. The call to service. Helping fellow citizens when in need. From first responders rushing into burning buildings to military members in combat operations around the world. All were protecting our freedoms and coming together as one great nation. Be proud to be an American, be proud to have freedom, be proud of the flag that represents a great nation.”
The ceremony was attended by students, parents, and community members, all coming together to pay their respects and reflect on the enduring impact of September 11th. The event underscored the commitment of Moravia Middle School to fostering a sense of national pride and remembrance in the younger generation.
Moravia Middle School remains dedicated to honoring the legacy of September 11th and ensuring that future generations understand the significance of this important day.
