Dear Moravia CSD Community:

By now you are no doubt aware that the world around us is changing rapidly as a result of the Coronavirus. As governments, businesses, sports, and other social groupings curtail events in effort to contain the virus’ spread and reduce the potential for individuals to be exposed, schools have been working diligently with state and local officials to do their part in keeping students and staff safe. Unfortunately, the time has come to close school. 

Effective Monday, March 16, 2020 through April 12, 2020, the Moravia Central School District will be closed. We are closing school along with every school district in the Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES. This decision was not made lightly, and we know the impact and hardship this will present for our families and community; however, the risks of this virus to our school and community necessitates closure at this time.

Outlined below is our continuity plan:


Elementary School: On Monday, March 16, 2020 from 4-8 PM individualized packets of school work and assignments will be available in the elementary school gymnasium. 

Middle School/High School: On Monday, March 16, 2020 from 4-8 PM, chrome books will be available for pick up in the middle school gymnasium for students in grades 6-12.

Food Service: On Tuesday, March 17 and Thursday, March 19 breakfast and lunch options will be dropped off at homes that have requested the service. A phone survey will be going out shortly.  Beginning on March 20, drop offs will be weekly at student homes.

Outside Groups: Our school buildings and facilities will be closed to all outside groups and individuals during this period of closure; this includes our fitness center. The entire district will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected during this time, and we need to limit individuals in our spaces as we undertake this important work.

Sports: All sports are cancelled at this time and may resume when school is back in session.

Field Trips: All field trips are cancelled or postponed at this time. Please follow the school website for updates on the events calendar for all future events.


We will continue to communicate and provide updates in the days and weeks ahead. Together, the Moravia Central School District and community will get through this global pandemic. Given the times it is more important than ever to support each other as we manage and navigate through this global pandemic. Thank you for your continued support.
