Elementary Teaching Assistant
Applications are being accepted for a teaching assistant position at Millard Fillmore Elementary School. The Moravia CSD is looking for an energetic, flexible, creative and compassionate individual. The district has developed a new program for students K - 2nd grade who exhibit social/emotional needs. The starting rate is a minimum of $17.44 per hour as per the CSEA contract. This position will begin September 1, 2024.

Student Aide
There is a vacancy for a student aide position at Millard Fillmore Elementary School. The candidate will work with a student in the second-grade with special needs for 6.5 hours per day.
Duties include assisting students while working with teachers and the building principal. Strong interpersonal and behavior management skills are important.
The starting wage is a minimum of $15.50 per hour.

Local Area Network Technical Support Specialist
Moravia Central School District is hiring a Local Area Network Technical Support Specialist to begin as soon as possible. This is a provisional civil service position. This means the candidate will be required to take the civil service exam when it is scheduled in the future and qualify for the position. In this role under supervision of the Director of Technology, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing specialized work in the design, development and implementation of computer applications as well as local area network operating systems. Expertise is required in installing, customizing and maintaining vendor supplied operating systems and application software for Local Area Networks.
(A) The candidate must be a graduate from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or closely related field, and one (1) year of full-time work experience or it’s part-time equivalent, in Local Area Network (LAN) software installation, support and maintenance; OR
(B) A graduate from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or a closely related field, and three (3) years of full-time experience, or its part-time equivalent, in Local Area Network (LAN) software installation, support and maintenance; OR
(C) Possess five (5) years of full-time work experience, or its part-time equivalent, in Local Area Network (LAN) software installation, support and maintenance.

School Security Guards
Moravia Central School District is seeking to fill two vacancies for School Security Guard with a start date of 9/1/2024. These are provisional civil service positions. This means the candidates will be required to take the civil service exam when it is scheduled in the future and qualify for the position or be appointed by reinstatement.
The objectives of the School Security Guards are to:
- Provide a presence in the School District in order to promote and provide an atmosphere of enhanced school safety for faculty, staff, students, and school visitors;
- Provide a law enforcement resource to students, teachers, school administrators, and parents, so as to:
- Increase student awareness about crime prevention, internet safety, conflict resolution, violence prevention, restorative justice, and peer mediation; and
- Increase school faculty and staff awareness about policies and procedures for preventing/responding to incidents of violence and other threats to school safety.
- Facilitate crime prevention, law enforcement, and security consultation;
- Build lines of communication and promote positive attitudes between students and law enforcement;
- Provide a confidential counseling resource to students who may be experiencing a variety of school, family, or social problems;
- Proactively address problems and pressures as they relate to students before such problems manifest into socially and legally unacceptable behavior. These problems may involve the use of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco.
- Provide a positive role model to the students; and
- Provide education in law enforcement, as requested and appropriate.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Member with permanent status of the police or sheriff’s department or division of state police, or a corrections, parole, or probation officer; OR
B. Retired member of police or sheriff’s department or division of state police, or a retired former corrections, parole, or probation officer; OR
C. Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years of experience where the primary function was safety and security work in an organization, business or agency, or as a uniformed officer in a public law enforcement or military agency; OR
D. Graduation from high school or possession of a comparable diploma, and four (4) years of experience where the primary function was safety and security work in an organization, business or agency, or as a uniformed officer in a public law enforcement or military agency; OR
E. An equivalent combination of training and experience as described above.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT(S):
Possession of a valid New York State operator’s license at the time of appointment and maintenance of such license throughout the tenure of employment in the position.
In accordance with the Safe Schools Against Violence in Education (SAVE) Legislation, Chapter 180 of the Laws of 2000, and by the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, candidates for appointment in school districts must obtain clearance for employment from the State Education Department prior to employment based upon a fingerprint and criminal history background check.
