Student Aides – Three (3) Vacancies
The Moravia Central School is seeking to fill three (3) vacancies for student aides:
- Two (2) Elementary School vacancies - the candidates will work with students in the first-grade with special needs for 6.5 hours per day.
- One (1) Middle School vacancy - the candidate will work with a student in the seventh-grade with special needs for 7 hours per day.
Duties include assisting students while working with teachers and principal. Strong interpersonal and behavior management skills are important.
Starting wage is a minimum of $15.00 per hour.

Assistant Cook
There is a vacancy in the elementary school for a 7 hour assistant cook (7 a.m. – 2 p.m.) effective as soon as possible. Starting wage is a minimum of $15.80 per hour as outlined in the CSEA contract.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: Assists in the preparation and cooking of a variety of food; does related work as required. These duties involve assisting in the preparation of food and for assuming responsibility for the kitchen in the absence of the Cook. This class differs from Food Service Helper because of the regular cooking duties. The work is performed under general supervision and on occasion, supervision may be exercised over Food Service Helpers.TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative Only) Prepares and cooks meat, fish, poultry, soups, vegetables, cereals, desserts, salads, and other foods; Bakes cakes, pies, rolls, and a variety of other pastries; May act as cashier as needed; Cuts, cleans, and dresses meat, fish, and poultry; Assists in the proper storing of food; May supervise the work of assistants in the cleaning of tables, kitchen utensils, stoves, and kitchen.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES, PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Working knowledge of proved methods of food preparation; Working knowledge of modern cooking utensils, appliances, and equipment; Ability to keep simple records and submit reports; Ability to get along well with children and adults; Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions; Good physical condition.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: One (1) year of experience in large-scale cooking

Senior Typist – Two (2) Provisional Vacancies
Moravia Central School has two vacancies for Senior Typist. They are provisional civil service positions. This means the candidates will be required to take the civil service exam when it is scheduled in the future and qualify for the positions. In these roles, the successful candidates will be responsible for clerical work in maintaining accurate, current student records in the elementary school and assisting in the operation of the elementary school offices. The candidates must have graduated from high school or possess an equivalency diploma and graduated from a regionally accredited or NYS registered two-year college OR have two years of clerical experience which must have included keyboarding. Long-Term Substitute (5th-Grade)
The Moravia Central School District is accepting applications for a Grade 5 Long-Term Substitute teacher to fill a maternity leave of absence starting on or about October 23rd, 2023, through the remainder of the school year.
New York State Childhood Education (Grades 1-6) certification preferred.
