Moravia Students Take Part in Cayuga County Student Government Day

Mr. Henry’s students participated in Cayuga County Student Government Day on Tuesday, October 27, gaining firsthand insight into local government and the responsibilities of public service.
The program provides students with an opportunity to learn how county government operates and how local officials serve their communities. Through activities such as observing legislative proceedings and learning about county departments, students gain a better understanding of the decisions and services that affect residents throughout Cayuga County.
During the event, the Moravia students also met with Mark Strong, a Cayuga County legislator who serves as Minority Leader and represents District 7, which includes Moravia, Niles, Sempronius, Summerhill, and Venice. Strong is also a Moravia graduate, making the meeting a special opportunity to connect current students with an alumnus who serves the local community.
Experiences such as Student Government Day help students connect classroom learning to real-world civic engagement and encourage them to consider the roles they can play in their communities.
Moravia Central School District extends its appreciation to Cayuga County for inviting its students to participate in this educational experience and for providing an opportunity to learn more about local government and public service.
