The Moravia Central School District is seeking to fill an administrative position for Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services.
Reports to: Superintendent
Description:
The Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services shall assist the Superintendent of Schools by providing leadership and coordination for all aspects of the School District’s Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services- Psychological, Related Services, Special Education, 611/IDEA, Homebound instruction, McKinney-Vento liaison, ENL services, Title IX Coordinator and other related duties as directed.
Qualifications:
- Valid Certification as School Building Leader and School District Leader required
- Valid Certification in Special Education or School Psychologist required
- Four years of Special Education or School Psychologist experience
General Responsibilities:
● The Director of Special Education and PPS is directly responsible to report to the Superintendent of Schools.
● Be an active member of the Leadership Team.
● Attends Board of Education meetings and prepares such reports for the Board and Superintendent as needed.
● Serves as a liaison with BOCES and other out of district pavement facilities where appropriate.
● Prepares a variety of statistical and other reports relating to the pupil services and curriculum as required by State Education Law and special reports required by the Superintendent and Board of Education.
● Keeps informed, shares and provides staff development on a variety of information that deals with education trends, developments and research.
● Build strong, supportive professional relationships with families involved in all aspects of the Special Education Process.
● Collects, analyzes, sorts, tracks and communicates statistical data regarding student achievement in collaboration with the Director of Curriculum. Facilitates department and or building level meetings to review and analyze data. Encourages teacher use of student data from assessments to improve instruction.
● Ensures that all IEPs are current and compliant with NYSED guidelines and are regularly reviewed and updated in the student management system.
Leadership Responsibilities:
● Perform all duties and responsibilities that are assigned to the position of the Chairperson of Special Education, 504 Committee and the Chairperson of Preschool Special Education.
● Coordinate the District-wide Special Education Program. This includes but is not limited to speech, psychological services, OT, PT and other related services as well as out of district placed student and staffing, etc.
● Work with the Leadership Team to implement a PK-12 continuum of services for students in support of the curriculum in the least restrictive environment.
● Coordinate and play an active role in such other pupil service programs such as adaptive physical education tutorial services, home school, homebound instruction and homeless liaison services, etc.
● Oversee the management of Medicaid eligible services and Medicaid billing and reimbursement.
Fiscal Responsibility:
● Develop a pertinent, annual budget which is consistent with fiscal guidelines provided by the Business Office, Superintendent and Board of Education. This includes establishing educational priorities for materials and adjusting these priorities to meet the needs of teachers and students within the allowable or anticipated funds.
● Assist in purchasing and requisitioning per District policy and procedures.
● Develop and coordinate the Special Education / IDEA grants and in accordance with District Goals.
● Coordinate the submission of STAC, Medicaid and other forms related to pupil personnel services.
Personnel Responsibilities:
● Actively participates in the recruitment, interviewing and appointment of appropriate staff as directed by the Superintendent.
● Jointly supervise and evaluate Pupil Personnel Services staff with building administrators.
● Provide leadership to faculty, students and staff throughout the District.
● Maintains the morale of staff and students.
● Be familiar with rules and regulations of the MTA, MAA and CSEA contracts.
● Assist in providing in-service training and staff development.
● Communicate effectively with all stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
● Work within the administrative unit to help oversee curriculum and improve instruction as it relates to students with disabilities.
● Supervises and evaluates all related service personnel, special education teachers and support staff and related office staff.
● Assists in the selection and assignment of staff in collaboration with principals.
In addition to the above job description, the Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services will perform all other duties and activities as assigned by the Superintendent.

Applications are being accepted for a cleaner position; hours are 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. This cleaner will work in various areas of the district. This position may include Saturdays. Minimum starting daily rate is $17.09 per hour.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: Sweeps, mops, strips and waxes floors, washes walls and windows, dusts and performs other cleaning duties; Cleans and mops lavatories and locker rooms and replaces soap and towels; Dusts desks, woodwork, furniture, and other equipment; Receives, moves, and stores incoming supplies; Arranges chairs and tables and other equipment for special use in public buildings; Removes snow and ice from driveways, parking lots, walks, stairs, and landings; Gathers and disposes of refuse; May operate small light machinery (scrubbers, floor machines and burnishers). May operate a light motor vehicle in transporting supplies, equipment, food, or mail. Does related tasks as required.

Moravia Central School District is hiring a Local Area Network Technical Support Specialist to begin as soon as possible. This is a provisional civil service position, meaning that the candidate will be required to take the civil service exam when it is scheduled in the future and qualify for the position.
In this role under supervision of the Director of Technology, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing specialized work in the design, development and implementation of computer applications as well as local area network operating systems. Expertise is required in installing, customizing and maintaining vendor supplied operating systems and application software for Local Area Networks.
(A) The candidate must be a graduate from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or closely related field, and one (1) year of full-time work experience or it’s part-time equivalent, in Local Area Network (LAN) software installation, support and maintenance; OR
(B) A graduate from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or a closely related field, and three (3) years of full-time experience, or its part-time equivalent, in Local Area Network (LAN) software installation, support and maintenance; OR
(C) Possess five (5) years of full-time work experience, or its part-time equivalent, in Local Area Network (LAN) software installation, support and maintenance.

There is an anticipated vacancy in the elementary school cafeteria for a 3 hour Food Service Helper. Rate of pay is the CSEA contract minimum hiring rate of $16.00/hour.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: Assists in the preparation and service of food and in the cleaning of kitchen equipment; does related work as required. This is routine manual work performed under immediate supervision in connection with the preparation and service of food. On occasion Food Service Helpers may perform cooking duties involving lesser degrees of skill than regularly required of employees in the classification of Cook.
