How long have you lived within the Moravia Central School District? 13+ years

Are you currently employed? If so, please give your employer’s name, your title and briefly describe your work: I am the Finance Officer for the Town of Ithaca. I am responsible for preparing and executing the Town’s annual $32 million budget, investment of funds and overseeing procurement. I have over 25 years of experience in local government and more than 20 years in the area of municipal finance and taxation.

Please list high school and any further education you have received: I graduated from Iroquois Central High School (Elma, NY) and have a Bachelor of Arts Degree from SUNY Geneseo (Geneseo, NY).

Please list any activities or committees in which you are involved (including Moravia Central School-related): I have volunteered for a number of school activities, including the 5th Grade Play, Middle School Musical, Chaperone Middle School Dance, the Concession Stand at Football games and actively supported the various youth and school sports teams that our children have participated in.

Please list any hobbies or interests you have: I love to read. I’m typically reading 2 or 3 books at any given time because my interests are so varied. My happy place is on the trails or in the woods. Long hikes and spending time in nature is my way of grounding and restoring balance. Having Fillmore Glen State Park in our backyard is truly amazing. As a family, we spend a lot of time outdoors exploring. I am also a big foodie. I love to cook for others, and I love to eat beautiful food!

Candidate Statement: My gratitude for the incredible teachers and staff of the Moravia CSD is immense. Our entire family has benefited immensely from the relationships we have formed with everyone in the school community, whether it be our children’s homeroom teachers, reading specialists, art, music and PE teachers, coaches, and staff at every level including the buildings and grounds crews who keep our schools and athletic facilities looking clean and beautiful. We truly have some of the best humans working in and for our schools. I care deeply about supporting the people who work tirelessly to educate, mentor and guide our children to become productive, thoughtful, compassionate citizens. For a district of our size we offer opportunities for enrichment that far exceed much larger districts and I want to ensure that we remain focused on providing not only the best education possible for our students, but also an employer that values its greatest resource – our educators. If elected, I believe that my vast public sector finance experience, inquisitive mind and direct communication style will make me an asset to the board and the greater Moravia community.
